To strategically lead the planning, implementation and integration of Risk Management loss prevention, safety, and business processes to maximize operational capability by protecting our people, product, and assets. To act as an extension of the Risk Management Department in setting direction and coordinating risk management resources that are deployed for workers compensation, liability and property exposure management.

 

What would success look like?

 

  • Lead the execution and consistent implementation of current key risk control/loss prevention initiatives across all functional areas of the business - Sales/Delivery, Logistics, Manufacturing, Equipment Services, and Fleet
  • Manage, organize, and lead all current and new Risk Management Information Systems targeting frequency and cost of risk opportunities, allocation, analysis, and field information reporting.
  • Oversee EOSH management systems in manufacturing center including Consolidated Management System (CMS), ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and other leadership roles among quality and food safety initiatives
  • Direct all applicable Regulatory Management affairs for the Region and formulate solutions to minimize regulatory impact and future exposure
  • Crisis/Incident Management and Emergency Planning - execute against Company requirements; availability 24/7 for response to accidents, severe weather events, site emergencies, environmental concerns, etc
  • Demonstrate Servant Leadership - accountability, consistency, timeliness, supportiveness, commitment to teamwork 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in the application of risk management principles, loss prevention and risk control techniques, workers compensation cost containment and transitional return to work, fleet safety management, and fire protection systems
  • Understanding of casualty insurance, self-insured retention, and principles of loss allocation
  • Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements; experience in negotiating settlements with OSHA, DOT, and EPA. Skilled in problem-solving, advanced planning skills, building cross-functional relationships, financial analysis, strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required
  • A minimum ten years’ experience in safety and loss prevention with a minimum of five years in a distribution industry is required.
  • A minimum of 2 years directly managing other management-level employees is also required, with a preference in the safety and loss prevention field.
  • Must be able to influence and collaborate with mid to high level managers in establishing business plans and setting strategic direction for the business unit.
  • Excellent leadership, teamwork, communication, and presentation skills are required as well as advanced computer and analytical skills.
  • Driver's license
  • ARM - Associate in Risk Management

Preferred:

  • ASP or CSP - Associate or Certified Safety Professional preferred
