Things you should know about working as a Safety Environmental Specialist:

Execute established Safety & Loss Prevention "SLP" programs, sustain and improve Safety and Environmental Management systems as part of the Consolidated Management System "CMS" at assigned manufacturing site, maintain compliance with requirements to reduce both frequency and cost of accidents, support the SPC Manufacturing site management team with the expansion of Safety and Environmental Management System processes, improve efficiency of resources, reduce loss exposure in manufacturing and to support risk management's goals & objectives while protecting people and assets.


What would success look like?

  • Support the implementation/ sustainability of the Consolidated Management System, with emphasis on the Safety and Environmental Management Systems
  • Continuation of Safety and Environmental Management Systems that meets requirements from Third Party Auditors and The Coca Cola Company, that are aligned with internationally recognized standards (ISO) and required by CCBCC customers (Walmart)
  • Document control management by maintaining and supporting over 230 documents in Live Link (document control system) that supports the Process Integrity of all procedures related to safety and environmental activities. Provide reviews for documents that are assigned within Live Link for document control
  • Oversee the audit of 28 Environmental and Safety compliance modules to include: scheduling, assigning, continual improvement (PHRED), up loading audit report in Live Link. Average 2 to 3 Audits per month
  • Provide materials that supports required training (30+ topics) on Environmental and Safety topics and support the integration of a Learning Management System at Manufacturing Site including Fleet, Warehouse and Equipment Services
  • Maintain approximately 50 records (paper and electronic) according to the retention records matrix and update annually
  • Assist the Consolidated Steering Committee in any duties needed to sustain The Consolidated Management System
  • Oversee and ensure Regulatory Compliance (OSHA, EPA, DOT and NFPA) throughout assigned manufacturing site
  • Reduce exposure to citations and fines that impact plant financials and negatively impact company trademark in the market
  • Ensure compliance with established Safety and Environmental System procedures by review and evaluation of effectiveness of procedures. Support coordination of regulatory training for supervisors and managers
  • Help provide interpretation of applicable regulations and their impact on the location operations to management. Maintain status of changes in regulatory environment as it relates to our business
  • Support the SR. Risk Control Manager, and internal claims team in monitoring Transitional Return to Work program (TRTW) and the level of implementation at assigned manufacturing site
  • Participate in the accident investigation process to ensure follow up and preventive actions are part of the Continual Improvement Program (PHRED)
  • Conduct New Hire Orientation with all new sales and delivery employees by supporting the Sales & Delivery Training Function
  • Support and participate on the site incident management & crisis resolution team by being available at all time to conduct drills and respond to emergency situations on a 24/7 basis



  • Basic knowledge of engineering, manufacturing processes or regulatory standards in OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other related applicable standards. Good organizational and interpersonal skills are required
  • Some practical experience in an industrial setting and an ability to understand the current business practices and tailor safety procedures that are easily integrated into the local environment. Individual must be able to get direction and execute plans without constant supervision
  • Highly proficient in technical and computer applications and ability to learn new and proprietary programs is a must
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Associate Degree or Technical Diploma is preferred
