Things you should know about working as a Project Manager, Engineering:

 

The Project Manager is responsible for designing, planning and implementing customized distribution systems for each branch location to meet Coca Cola Bottling Co. Consolidated (CCBCC)’s delivery and profitability standards and allow for growth in sales.  They will detect current systems where costs are out of alignment and troubleshoot to increase efficiencies and profitability.  He or she will be responsible for continuous improvement and documentation of the territory planning process as it pertains to major process change initiatives. They will coordinate Corporate and Franchise services and automated systems to ensure implementation and long-term execution of the distribution system is successful.  Additionally, they will train and coach Territory Planning Project Managers and local management on systems and methods to maintain new distribution systems once they are in place.  As well as evaluate all system cost and make recommendations to Territory Management that will best support the distribution system, support company goals to grow sales, supply satisfactory customer service, increase productivity and reduce costs.

 

What would success look like?

 

  • Make initial contact with the Zone Managers, Territory Managers and Distribution Managers at local facility
  • Ensure the proper scheduling of the key people needed to complete the project   
  • Collect information that may require input to the routing systems used or will impact the quality of the data used if too many changes to the customer master data are in process
  • Prepare initial data for the project
  • Run route sales report for the entire facility for comparison use
  • Accurate input of customer master, sales and route data is required to complete project successfully
  • Review routes on the maps with local management to make sure all customers are in correct place and that all sales data matched sales reports 
  • Review and correct download data with local management
  • Review all data for accuracy to ensure that there are no technical problems in the process of transferring and converting system data into PC data 
  • Create temporary customer numbers in the PC software for new store openings that will significantly affect the distribution system 
  • Create sales record data and assign service frequencies. 
  • Complete the routing process
  • Change customer route assignments between routes or create new routes to meet the volume, stops per day and hours per day standards as determined by the goals of the project 
  • Make changes to the current route structure to prove or disprove feasibility of proposed plan
  • Monitor current and newly placed distribution systems and determine need for route structure change or re-alignment to maintain system efficiencies, cost, appropriate customer service levels and sales growth
  • Follow-up with Territory Managers, Distribution Managers and local management on the status of the project through the effective date
  • Coordinate any services supplied by other departments (Fleet, ISS, HR, Pricing Coordinators, etc.), expedite any services required to meet the effective date
  • Review branch sales and delivery data to determine if it meets all standards for sales growth and profitable delivery service by customer and route
  • Analyze customer sales by channel to determine if customer sales types are being delivered on the appropriate route type
  • Review Cold Drink, Full Service, and Fountain channels to determine viability of dedicated routing verses hybrid
  • Review customer frequencies against standards to check for appropriate services levels and stop efficiencies
  • Review geography of customer base to the sales center to determine if there are geographical issues that are causing problems with efficiencies and cost
  • Create plan for adjustments or major re-alignment of the current system and summarize changes verses current system by route
  • Maintenance the system and branch data
  • Maintain the software and internal tables
  • Develop and document the process changes to the territory planning process due to changes in the business model

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field
  • 1+ years of professional experience or strong internship experience 
  • Capable of using ALL CCBCC systems to gather needed data for territory planning process
  • Ability to understand customer delivery patterns and 12-week delivery cycles
  • Change Management experience and the ability to influence individuals who do not directly report to you to make good decisions without personal bias
  • Computer experience with the ability to manipulate database material
  • Experience with Windows based programs (Excel, Access, DOS, and Windows)
  • Good driving record
  • The ability to travel
